Caught, Again

I caught Xena for the third time — I guess this is becoming old news, but it’s still thrilling for me. This time she actually took a few steps in my direction, so I’m considering it as her first attempt to catch me!

What We Did Today
4:35 to 5:45 p.m. = 1 hour, 10 minutes  Counting the Minutes

  • Catching Game
Her herd was in the grass paddock, grazing in the sunshine. It’s a hilly paddock, with areas of open grass interrupted by clumps of trees and shrubs. It’s actually a very pretty spot.

We played our new catching game, which in this case involved climbing up and down hills. Twice Xena took refuge amongst the herd, although each time one of them drove her into the open. At one point she escaped through a thicket of shrubs, but rather than follow her, I backtracked and caught up with her on the other side of the hill. At this point I thought the game would continue for a while, when suddenly she faced me, and just as I retreated, she took a few steps in my direction. She didn’t exactly catch me, but it was start, and I ended up catching her in a total of 6 minutes.

  • Shower, Carrots & Fly Spray
We played with the garden hose again in the barn yard, rather than in the outdoor wash stall. She again allowed me to spray her neck and back after only about 15 minutes. She’s becoming quite comfortable with the water and relaxes more quickly each time.

We finished off with a few carrots and a good dose of fly spray. That was all for today, as I had errands to run.
